Nestled behind the Costa Tropical in the province of Granada is the autonomous region of Los Guájares, three delightful ‘pueblo blancos’ known as Guájar Fondón, Guájar Faragüit and Guájar Alto. The area is located in a narrow valley, formed by the river Toba, historically known as the River of Blood, the name coming from the ferocious battles fought between Moors and Christians on the banks of the river beneath Sierra de Los Guájares and Sierra de Río Verde.

The three villages of Los Guájares are surrounded by spectacular countryside, and enjoy a typically Mediterranean climate, i.e. mild in winter and hot in summer. However, due to their location, the air is less humid and much fresher than that of the coastal towns.
